So a friend of mine opened a Manadonese restaurant in Bintaro, South Tangerang. For the non-Indonesian, Manado is a city in North Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. The cuisine of Manado is famous for its rich variation of sea food and extra spicy.
I’ve only eaten Manadonese food once before, some 15 years ago, so I really have no idea what I should get. Also my friend wasn’t around when we arrived at the restaurant.
We picked (clockwise) Cakalang, Tinoransak chicken and papaya leaves.
Cakalang is a type of fish, part of the tuna family and Tinoransak is a kind of flavoring made of green chili and bird’s eye chili.
Then the boss came and mentioned that we should try the grilled parrotfish with sambal gorontalo (chili) and dabu-dabu chili. It was delicious!!! It was my first time eating parrotfish, and I love it.
Then we end our meal with Es kacang tanah
If you happen to be in Bintaro, South Tangerang and would like to get a taste of Manadonese food, you should visit.
